The Varsity Hotel & Spa commences 2 million refurbishment of guest rooms

The Varsity Hotel & Spa on Thompson’s Lane is investing £2 million to undertake a full refurbishment of its 44 guest rooms.

The scheme will be completed by January and will help the hotel increase trade, which is projected to add 22 jobs to the local economy. 

The Varsity Hotel & Spa has established itself as a Cambridge institution since opening in 2010. It employs over 100 members of staff and is renowned for its beautiful guest rooms and unparalleled facilities, which includes its spectacular roof terrace.

The Varsity has attracted a number of A-listers over the years, including the Beckhams, Daniel Craig, Colin Firth, Rachel Weisz, Jeremy Irons, Ralph Fiennes as well as the families of Royal Households. 

 

The Rooms:

Each of the newly designed rooms will be unique. Guests can expect beautiful herringbone wood flooring, bespoke handmade rugs from artisan weavers and delicately patterned wallpaper from luxury British high end Designers Guild ,and Colefax and Fowler. 

Each bedroom will be completed by a stunning sandstone bathroom, boasting underfloor heating, a monsoon shower or Victorian free-standing bath-tub and exclusive Elemis products, some will have mini TVs in the bathrooms.

The guest experience is at the heart of the new refurbishment. The Varsity has incorporated the latest technology to allow guests to personalise their stay. Each room will have a Smart television, through which individuals can access their personal Netflix and Spotify accounts, so that they can unwind and relax after a day of exploring the stunning city. Each room will have access to all the Sky TV channels, sports, movies and documentaries.

In-room tablets allow guests to order room service, make concierge requests and access a full-service directory at the press of a button. The power supply in every room is fitted for international appliances, making the hotel perfect for global travellers. 

The Varsity is ideally situated in the centre of Cambridge, making it the ideal base for punting, shopping, sight-seeing and nightlife. Guests can truly immerse themselves in the culture and charm of local life.
