Sunshine forecast for Our Bury St Edmunds Whitsun Fayre

Visitors to Bury St Edmunds town centre this weekend can look forward to flowers, farm animals and lots of fun in the sun among the many attractions at the annual Our Bury St Edmunds Whitsun Fayre.

The free event, which started as a flower and plant market now offers a range of attractions with something for all the family and new for this year a crafts and artisan food market.

The ever-popular urban beach will move to a new location outside Moyses Hall Museum.  Cornhill and Buttermarket will have a wide range of stalls and entertainers and the new crafts and artisan food stalls will be on Angel Hill.

Chief Executive of Our Bury St Edmunds Mark Cordell said:  “Every year we try to make the Whitsun Fayre a little bit different with something new to enjoy over the two days.  This year the market on Angel Hill will offer all sorts of unique crafts and treats.  Among the highlights will be luxury handmade ice-cream, wooden and traditional toys, beautifully made Russian dolls and Suffolk-based Mr Bees beeswax cosmetics and honey-flavoured beers.

“The weather is forecast to be warm and sunny over the two days and could reach temperatures of around 25 degrees, which is the high 70s, so I’m sure our beach will be as popular as ever.  I’d remind visitors to bring their sunscreen, but there will be plenty of places to buy an ice-cream or cool drink as they enjoy the Fayre.”

Admission to the Whitsun Fayre is free and it runs from 10am to 4pm this Sunday

27 and Bank Holiday Monday 28 May.  For more information visit www.ourburystedmunds.com/whitsunfayre.
