Force supports global #SlowDown campaign

This week Cambridgeshire police will be supporting the fourth United Nations Global Road Safety Week in order to continue the fight against speeding drivers in Cambridgeshire.

The initiative asks members of the public to take a pledge to #SlowDown in order to save lives.

By pledging, you agree that:

-          You understand why you should #SlowDown

-          You endorse the solutions to #SlowDown

-          You will promote the message to #SlowDown with your friends and family by getting involved

The is due to run in countries across the United Nations, highlighting a variety of solutions to speeding with the hope of saving lives, of which Cambridgeshire police pledge to endorse, such as enforcing speed limit laws and raising awareness about the dangers of speeding.

RPU Insp Chris Huggins said: “It is brilliant to see the United Nations leading a campaign of this nature to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding.

“It is clear that attitudes on speeding still need to change if we are to reduce the number of fatalities on our roads. Therefore we are proud to support the messages of this campaign and hope to see a continued push deter people from driving dangerously.”
