Can you give Cassie a home in time for Christmas?

Blue Cross Cambridge is appealing for help to get Cassie the cat a home in time for Christmas.

The friendly and playful tortoiseshell cat has been patiently waiting for a new home for nearly a year.

She came into Blue Cross care in January after her previous owner died and has been waiting for her forever home for over 300 days.

Staff at the centre on Garlic Row believe Cassie’s age of eight years and nine months is putting potential owners off but said she is really a big kitten at heart.

Clare Trippett, Blue Cross Cambridge centre manager, said: “Cassie can be shy at first but is so affectionate and really enjoys a fuss once she gets used to her surroundings.

“Playtime is one of her favourite things and she would make someone a perfect companion. She’s a big kitten at heart really who loves playing with her rod toy or pouncing on mouse toys. Cassie really wants that one person she can devote all her love to.”

Cassie is looking for a home with a garden where she will be the only pet.

Blue Cross Cambridge is also looking for foster homes to help some of the cats who struggle in the centre.

People who are interested in fostering should live within 45 minutes of the centre, have their own transport and have a home with no other pets or young children. All equipment is provided by the charity.

If you can give Cassie her forever home or are interested in fostering then contact Cambridge Blue Cross for more information on 0300 777 1470.

People can also support Blue Cross pets this Christmas by making a donation. Blue Cross is a charity and does not receive any government funding, it relies on the donations and support of animal lovers to continue its vital work caring for homeless, unwanted, sick and injured pets. Help pets and people for years to come by making a donation or leaving a gift in your will. Find out more or make a donation at www.bluecross.org.uk.
