Blue Cross calling on princes and princesses to attend Royal wedding themed tea party in aid of needy pets

Local animal lovers are invited to join in the fun at a Royal wedding themed tea party at Blue Cross Cambridge on May 13.

Ahead of the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19, the pet charity is holding the fundraiser as part of their Paws for Tea campaign.

The team at the Blue Cross rehoming centre on Garlic Row will be serving cream teas for a small donation and there will also be a second-hand stall selling pet goods.

All money raised by the event will help sick, injured and abandoned animals like Percy. Tiny grey and white kitten Percy was brought into Blue Cross in Cambridge aged just three weeks old after he was found as a stray.

Clare Trippett, Centre Manager at Blue Cross in Cambridge, said: “Our tea party will be a fun day for all the family and is a wonderful opportunity for children to come dressed as their favourite princesses or princes.

“All money raised from our Paws for Tea tea party will help Blue Cross to help even more pets like Percy.”

In 2017 Blue Cross helped more than 40,000 sick, injured and homeless pets through its animal hospitals and rehoming centres across the country.

Local pet-lovers are also being invited to host their own tea parties for needy pets at Blue Cross.

A survey for the pet charity found nearly half the UK (45%) are planning on watching the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on TV with friends and family on May 19 – the pawfect excuse for a Paws for Tea tea party.

Clare adds: “Whether people come along to our tea party, or host one of their own, we hope lots of people will get involved with this year’s event.”
