Thousands of people will head to Thriplow this March for the Daffodil Weekend.

Thriplow is a sleepy village in South Cambridgeshire, but once a year crowds of visitors descend.

The Thriplow Daffodil Weekend started in 1969 when Thriplow church needed major roof repairs.

Residents decided to raise funds by opening their gardens and making cups of tea.

So successful was the weekend in 1969, it has continued every spring ever since.

Today, it takes 350 volunteers and marshals to run the event.

Across the weekend, it brings around 100 traders and 12,000 of visitors to the village.

A message from the Thriplow Daffodil Weekend organisers:

"Join us for two days of fun activities for all the family and amble through over 100 stalls to find that something special.

"Check out the blacksmiths at work in the Smithy and be entertained by the merry Morris dancers.

"Then recharge at Taste of Thriplow for street food and beer or enjoy hot drinks and homemade cake at our Village Tearooms.

"With live music being played all around the village it’s the perfect place to get some springtime cheer."
