Scooter stolen in hammer attack robbery

Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked with a hammer and had his electric scooter stolen in Cambridge.

The 34-year-old victim was riding the scooter close to the King George playing field, Paget Road, at about 8.15pm on Sunday (9 July) when he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled out the hammer.

He repeatedly hit the victim over the head with the hammer while the other man took the scooter, worth about £2,000.

The pair attacked the victim and also threw a substance over him that caused blistering, before riding off on the scooter.

The victim suffered injuries to his head, face, arms and legs, which required hospital treatment.

The suspects are described as men in their early 20s, one wearing a balaclava and one with blonde hair. Both were wearing dark clothing at the time. The scooter is described as a black Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11 with red trim.

Detective Constable Matthew Lander, said: “This was a terrifying attack for the victim, who sustained serious injuries."
