The 24-year-old lashed out after intimidating members of the public on the busy walkway.

Raeqwon Rhodes was riding an e-bike along Garret Hostel Lane, in Cambridge, on 7 August last year with two friends.

Witnesses described how the trio were riding at high speed, swerving in and out of members of the public.

Rhodes was confronted by a mother after he nearly collided with her young child.

He responded by shouting and being aggressive towards her, before riding off.

He then brushed by a woman who was walking with her husband.

The husband, a man in his 40s, challenged Rhodes and the pair began to argue.

Rhodes lashed out, punching the man to his left eyebrow, breaking his glasses and causing a cut to his face.

Rhodes, of Mowbray Road, Cambridge, and his friends rode off and the victim’s wife drove him to hospital for treatment.

On Thursday 12 October at Cambridge Crown Court, Rhodes was jailed for 27 months.

DC Leah Beckett from Cambridgeshire Police

“Rhodes’ behaviour that day started by riding his e-bike irresponsibly and then escalated to attacking someone who understandably challenged his actions.

“It was fortunate he did not collide with the young child and that nobody was more seriously injured.

“He clearly struggled to control his temper and I hope this time in jail will help him reflect on that.”
