Cambridge visitors could face tourist tax

Plans are being considered to charge Cambridge tourists £2 a night.

The charge would cover people staying overnight in hotels with 10 rooms or more, and could be implemented by January 2025.

Cambridge BID and Cambridge City Council said the money would help to create a new funding pot for investment in the city.

However, the charge can only be introduced if it is supported by over half of the hotel owners who would be covered by the charge.

A ballot of these businesses is due to be held in the summer.
